It seems not always easy to constantly come up with creative content for your Facebook page. In this blog post, I show you some simple strategies how you can plan and create content for your business Facebook page.
Define your goal
Before you start publishing a post on your page, think about what you goals are. Do you want to get traffic to your website or are you aiming for some likes, shares or comments? This is important to know because based on your goals you would publish different content.
Choose a post type
There are basically four different types of posts you can publish on your Facebook page: Pictures, Videos, Text only and Links. Based on your goal you will choose a different post type
Text only: If you are looking for comments a text only post can be ideal. Make sure you ask a question. Keep it short and simple. If you have information to give about your business I suggest adding a picture instead of a text-only post.
Picture: Choose a funny picture or even a GIF if you want to get likes or shares. Remember that Facebook works differently than Instagram. To simple share, a picture you just posted on Instagram might not work on Facebook.
Link: If you are looking for more website traffic this post type is perfect for you. Just make sure you are using the correct way.
Enter the link from your website and wait until the picture and description from the website shows up.
Then remove the link again and enter a short and catchy caption that makes people want to click on your link.
The. Most common mistake I see on Facebook pages is that the text is in a business voice written. Of course, you are a business and you want to look and sound professional but social media is about people and therefore it is important to sound like a human. Write your Facebook post like you would talk to a friend. Your fans will feel a much better connection and will more likely interact with your account.
Here are some ideas for your future Facebook post. Try to have a variation of these different types/categories. I suggest to make a monthly plan and write down on what days you will post what kind of type of post. This will make it easier for you and you always have creative content.
If you have a blog on your website, simply share your new posts on Facebook. Simply post the link like explained earlier and write a catchy headline, that makes people want to read your blog. For example:
Your blog title would be „The top 5 fashion mistakes“ then you could post on Facebook something like „We were shocked about fashion mistake number 3, Check it out and let us know if you are doing one of these mistakes“.
Behind the scenes videos
Videos from your business are a perfect way to humanize your brand. You can introduce team members, show the fitting before a fashion show, make a quick office tour etc. The most important factor is to show your fans that there are humans behind your brand. This is my favorite type of post and whenever I use it for my clients I get the highest engagement.
Fun fact about your business
Another way to humanize your business is to share fun facts about your business. For example: “We have an office dog called Paul” or “In our office, only one person doesn’t wear flip-flops”. You can also add pictures or a video.
Product in use
Nothing is more boring on Facebook than a simple product post. If you want to show your new products make sure you share a picture or video while the product is in use.
Random thought / GIF
The weirdest post gets sometimes the most shares. Post a random thought you just had and a matching GIF and see what happens. Here is a website with some GIFs you can share.
If you like to share quotes on a regular basis you could even come back with your weekday creation. You know like Taco Tuesday, Throwback Thursday or Flashback Friday. How about magical Monday or random Wednesday?
Fill in the blank
Write a simple a sentence and leave a blank. Then ask your community to comment and fill in the blank. This can be something funny or something you want your community’s opinion. This is a simple way to get some engagement on your Facebook page.
This website creates content for you. You have to sing up with a Buffer account and connect it to your Facebook page. The website will post content based on your selected preferences. It is a good source if you are for example an e-commerce business or if you really have no idea what to post. Make sure to always check what kind of content got published.
Ask your community what they want
The easiest way to find out what kind of post type your community likes is to ask them. Make it easy for them and add a few suggestion in your question.
Now let’s get started with planning your Facebook page content. I created a checklist for you. Simply download it and you’ll never run out of ideas.
PS: There is an extra cool content idea on the checklist. Make sure you add this idea to your content plan.
